Creating Copy of DB Without Them Linking

    Hello,

I'm currently working on a project for work but haven't used Access in a few years. I'm trying to create a copy of the production db to use as a test db. The issue I am having is whether I simply copy the database, save as a new name and location, or import the db into a blank db the db's remain linked. By this I mean if I make any updates in the test db they will show up in the production db and vice versa. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this and if so how do I go about disconnecting them?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you for your time.

sounds like they are split, so
    - create copy of front and back ends in another location that is a Trusted Location
    - open the new fe and go to linked table manager
    - relink all currently linked tables between the new fe and new be
    - carefully examine all linked table paths by checking that property in the nav pane
    As an additional precaution, perhaps
    - make small inconspicuous edit(s) and close new db go to production version and ensure that change is not there

If during linking you are prompted for the location every time, use notepad to create the entire path string and copy/paste from there.
    - "doesn't work" doesn't help. Implement changes in copies of your database.
