    Speed issue continues

I've been tackling a performance issue with my FE BE application for some time now and have just noticed a performance pattern that may mean something to someone more experienced than I.

When the user uses the FE application and accesses the BE the speed is terrific.

As soon as another user logs in and access the same BE (different data in the same table for instance) the speed drops dramatically for both users. It doesn't matter which user we try this with which means it's not a problem associated with the users computer.

As soon as the 2nd user closes the application (FE) and leaves only 1 user accessing the BE data - the slow speed continues.
If this same user closes the application and reopens it we get our fast speed back.

For some reason as soon as the BE see another FE user it slows right down and won't speed up until both user quit the application and one of the users reopens it again.

Is there a setting for sharing that i don't know about?

    thanks in advance.

Each user runs their own copy of frontend?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

The frontend is an Access file?

Might have something to do with record locking https://support.office.com/en-us/art...ADDAB6BE#bm2_2

This really sounds more like a network problem...what sort of network are we talking about here? Access works horribly, speed-wise, with WANs and VPNs.

The problem with making anything foolproof...is that fools are so darn ingenious!

I ran this comment by the person who set up our network and he pointed out we are on a Gigabit switch and network performance wouldn't be an issue. I tend to agree based mainly on :
    1 user = great speed,
    2 users = speed drops dramatically ,
back to 1 user = speed still slow,
close /open application (1 user only) = great speed again.

Something is happening within the application as soon as it detects another user accessing the BE

I should mention my wkstn is running MSACCESS 2019 and the users are all running MSRuntime on their wkstns.
If I close and open my FE (on MSAccess 2019 ) my speed increases, If the user closes and opens his FE (running MSRuntime) his speed increases too

does anything else jump out as a possible cause for the slowness?
