    Question Same value in different fields?

    Hi Guys,

    Just wondering if anyone could please help me with this - I am very new to access.

    I am trying to display the same value in one field in another table in Access. The field 'IATA_Code' in the 'Received_Files' table should have the same value in the 'IATA_Code' field in the 'Uploaded_Files' table. I have tried writing a query for this but I don't think i'm on the right track.

    Screenshots attached below for further clarification;

    Is this possible? I just want to essentially use the 'cell = cell' formula for example, like you would in excel.

    Thanks very much,

    Coming to the realisation that this isn't possible. I'm thinking the system won't know which row to populate the data with?

    That would be the problem, yes. Why that value in the first row and not the second? If there's some value that relates the two tables together, then it would certainly be possible.

    you would do this via Update query but there would need to be a limiting factor as you've noticed, otherwise all rows could get updated. The limit (criteria) may be your date field, but hard to say because the 2 date formats are not the same. It also looks like you're saying you can't do what has already been done?

    Thanks guys! I understand it better now. For this case, I think it's easier to just keep both of the columns in the table then when I run the query at the end I can just use only one of the columns (as they will always house the same value)

    Mircon, what do you mean the date formats are different? They are the same? dd/mm/yyyy

    It only looks like it's already been done because I put the data in manually, apologies for the confusion.

    I mistook JAN19 for JAN 19, so i guess it's not a date. I was comparing that to 19/05/2019.
