Angry How do I change the data type of a field in a form in Asset Tracking?

I'm trying to copy-paste records of fixed assets from a table into a form. I already have predetermined ID numbers in the table (data type: Number, specifically double) and when I try to paste it into the 'Asset List' form, it says that it can't be pasted because the ID field in the form is data type Autonumber. Additionally, the Location field includes a drop down menu when I just want someone to be able to type in any string. Is there any way to change the data type of the form so I can easily and smoothly copy-paste the records from my table (I don't want to change my table values)? Been trying to figure this out the past 2 days with no luck, really frustrated

Neither form nor form controls have data type. Fields have data type.

Form is in Datasheet view and bound to table? I just tested this and it worked. But my copy/paste included autonumber value of source and copied to autonumber field on form. Access automatically incremented the autonumber for new record.

Why would you copy/paste from table to a form?

If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
