    playing sound

Is there a way to play "stock" sounds (when a user saves a record for instance)?
most software will "DING" when the user hits the save button and i'd like to have this sound triggered on my SAVE button.

Is there anyway to do this without having to play a .wav file that i would have to provide etc?
I don't see any action commands in the macro options.

    thanks,
    Steve

You could use the built in Beep command.
Otherwise, you will need to supply wave files but I think your users will very quickly get annoyed by beeps and other sounds and turn the sound down.

    The command is simply: Beep

Call this from any VBA procedure or macro. It's right near the top of macro actions list.

I have never used this because as a user I am annoyed by beeps and popups so I don't do this to my users if I can help it.

To test it, type Beep in the immediate window
If you decide to go ahead with this, I have an example Countdown Timer database with 20 or so royalty free sounds you can use.

100% agree. I had the odd beep throughout my app and it really annoyed the users. I now only use them for issuing warnings, not confirmations.
