    Question Query

    I am just new to the forum. Please can someone help in retrieving the desired output using a query.

    I have two tables with below values

    Table 1
    Emp Name Application
    John MS Access
    John MS Word
    John MS Excel
    Smith MS Paint
    Smith MS Excel

    Table 2



    Emp Name Department
    John HR
    John IT
    John Finance

    Desired Output

    Emp Name Application Department
    John MS Access HR
    John MS Word HR
    John MS Excel HR
    John MS Access IT
    John MS Word IT
    John MS Excel IT
    John MS Access Finance
    ... ... ...

    did you try both tables in a select query where the fields are joined on Emp Name, with name from either table, and application and department are from the others?
    That would be of the most basic query stuff there is, as long as what you posted represents what you really have.
