    Export report to Excel - Header values missing??


    I have a Access report that is based on a single query and runs fine. BUT when the user opens the report and right clicks to export to excel, the header fields show up but no data. the details export fine. If you right click and export to Word, everything shows up. I tried adding a button with docmd.OutputTo and got the same results.

    Any thoughts why the header data is missing?

    the source data query pulls the header and details in a single result.

    typically when you export to excel you have to say whether headers are included or not, either in the export specification or on the docmd.transferspreadsheet (hasfieldnames setting)

    What I am talking about is when the report is open in Access, if you right click the report there is a popup menu that gives the Export To options if the user does this, the headers are lost if going to Excel but they are there if going to Word.

    don't export that way :P

    Seriously though I suspect your headers are the PAGE HEADER section of your report or maybe one of the section headers. If you want them to appear on an export I would try copying the headers to the REPORT HEADER section then giving it a shot.
