Problem connecting to Access 16 Database after upgrading to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro

I have an Access 2010 database that was working well in Access 2016.

Then I upgraded the computer to Windows 10 (due to Win 10 EOL approaching).

Now the database will not connect. I get a message saying that some tables are missing.

When I go into debug mode and try to make a change, I get a message saying the database is not updatable. When that happens, the program freezes and I can see that yellow Office warning about downloaded files being unsafe. (The database resides on a Windows Network.) That message is partially blocked by the code screen and I cannot reach the button to say its OK to open the file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Murray

The database resides on a Windows Network.
Try temporarily putting the database on your own PC to see if that works.

Is the database split into front-end and back-end? Putting an unsplit or front-end in a network location is not recommended, especially if there are multiple users.

    Thanks for the reply @mike60smart.

[this is wrong see below] I haven't done that specifically, thinking that my network does that for me. I'll look into it.

That is actually my problem. Office is write-protecting the file and stopping all macros and VBA code from executing.

Now I have a different problem - how to fully stop all that interference. I have turned off everything I could find - in the Utilities menu and still no joy.

When I try to simply open the file I can't see any tables. I can see windows, input screens and so on but no data.

    Thanks for the reply @John_G.

    I'll give that a shot.

I have no idea whether the DB is split. The app is an accounting app called Business! whose developer went out of business. The database resides on the server and we connect using a local app. One might think that means it is split but the DB contains tables full of code. I'm a VB 6 developer who (clearly) knows little about Access.

    John_G.

I moved it to a stand-alone computer and it still doesn't work. The database is an 2003 version so I imagine it is incompatible. Thanks for your help.
