SQL SELECT must have some sort of syntax error I don't see?

    I've tried (LastName, FirstName)
    I've tried *

Not in any of the attempts do I see the word "SELECT" within any of the error messages.

you cannot use a double quote inside 2 dbl quotes,
you can use a single inside 2 dbl,
    or 4 doubles.

I don't always spot the "'" sequence just because of aging eyesight so I use """" so as to get my attention when looking at code. Double quotes work fine inside as used here. As already posted, I forgot the "FROM" operator.
