Get User Automatically and Security Level example

The attached shows how to get the user's loginID automatically and have a 'user' security level type table which you can then utilize to disable/enable/make visible/invisible buttons on the form (as demonstrated).

No need to ever have the user login and the getuser() function can be used as expressions in queries or anywhere you like and will always return the user's windows loginID.

Use it to set the default 'EnteredBy' field in your table so you always know who entered the record.

Or use it to allow certain admin type users to give permissions or security levels to other users to the database.

    pkstormy,

I'm new to this forum, but I'm interested in the topic of your post. Unfortunately, I do not see the attachment referenced in your post. Has it been removed?

    Thank you,

Apparently attachments for a lot of threads where lost earlier this year.

pk's example possibly uses the Environ() function to pull user's network login ID and match that to record in Users table (it's what I do). Login procedure is fairly common topic. Should be able to find other threads with examples, such as: https://www.accessforums.net/program...ing-55812.html
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
