    About Formulas and Symbols

    Hello,

    You know, high mathmatics equations including a lot of symbols and formulas. For example, I attached picture. This formulas, can be write with Word formulas editor or some LaTeX editor softwares. My quesiton is;

    How can I show this equation in my access document? (without Link or Picture tools) I want to create text area in my sample Table and I will connect the text cell from Form and I want to see this equation from the Form at the Text cell. Is that possible? Or any different ways? Thanks.

    Word can indeed show it but I'd be surprised if it can calculate it!
    I also doubt Access can calculate or even display it.
    Your best bet would probably be Excel

    Is this for display on your forms, reports, or both?

    Could they use a web browser control in combination with JavaScript to do this. I just googled and found MathJax which looks interesting. I've never used the control before so I wouldn't know.

    At the very least, and it may be impractibly slow, you could use shell scripts that call latex to generate a picture of the equation. It's been a while since I used latex and remember it being slow.

    Hi kd2017,
    For both (forms+reports) I tried web browser control but I didn't do it.Because I don't know the Java script applications very well. You said MathJacks, I looked and it's very interesting, maybe I can use but I don't know. I worked with Bakoma Tex editor for equations but I could not be successful. Thank you.

    Hi everybody and kd2017,

    Yes, I solved it. MathJAcks is the starting point for the answere. I created a link in my access table and I created Web Browser tools on my form, I save as (*.txt) the only equation area from that web site and save as again for *.htm. Later I connected the link area. Click image for larger version.

    That's a neat solution which I hadn't considered as I thought you needed to use the formula rather than just display it.

    Just for info if you can produce equations like this in Word / Excel, you could use exactly the same method to display these in Access.
    In fact if you use the ActiveX web browser control, you can use it to display the Word doc or Excel file without converting it to .htm

    Hello again,
    I discovered different way (more practical) for the equation monitoring;

    1) Using MS Word, for the equation edit.
    2) Save as to this file "Single File Web Page" (*.mht file format)
    3) Open this *.mht file and copy that adress
    4) Paste this adreess to the link
    5) It is ready for the monitoring equation from the access form, at web browser tool.

    That does sound better

    As requested, attached is a simple example app with an ActiveX browser control
    SampleFileViewer.zip
    Use it to open any file e.g. docx, xlsx, pdf in Access.
    Apologies for the large images - these are full screenshots

    If a file opens externally, run the attached registry file to fix that

    However do you actually intend to edit the equation in Access. If not, why not just display an image (which you said you didn't want)

    Hi ridders52,

    Thanks for your sample. Actually, I don't need the "edit equation" in the Access. I'm only searching and learning different methodes for the monitoring some objects. [Displayin images very standart ] First, I thought, I can solve this problem with "rich text + web browser" objects. But it didn't work. Then I wondered and researched and reached these solutions.

    Learning new solutions is always good but in this case it seems like you're using a steamroller to crack a nut. I'd just use an image control and a saved filepath

    No, I don't think like you. Some scientific documents are including a lot of schema, equations, vector diagrams etc..So, they are preparing with LaTeX generally. For example I'm using BakomaTex software for scientific applications and that software can be convert that file to html or another formats. In this way, I can use this solutions, which one is more usefull for me. So, this informations are quite useful.
