@ssanfu: thanks for pitching in
I was States side today and had limited opportunity to post. You did fine by me. The issue might be a result of clicking "Reply with quote" instead of just composing a reply.

Code:ssanfu, Thank you very much for your helping me to solve the problem. This was the first time I dealt with function and couldn't figure out the logic behind it.
@HS_1
Use the "#" in the Menu for posting code.
The "cloud" to the left of the "#" in the menu is for quoting.
If you want to type the tags, they are
for code - "[ c o d e ]" and "[/c o d e ]" .... <<<-- remove the spaces. I had to add spaces so the forum wouldn't display the code box.
for a quote - "[ q u o t e ]" and "[/q u o t e ]" .... <<<-- remove the spaces.
The point is you don't have to quote the entire earlier post. If you want to answer a specific question or comment on a specific thought/statement, just quote just that much.
So how was the dB I modified? Any questions?
snafu, the function works great. I am nowhere near writing my own function but with the copied and modified one I had the problem grasping the concept how qty. are passed to the function till you call it by the query. Thanks one more time
