Putting the backend of a database on an internet server

    Hello everyone,

Is it possible to put the backend of a split database on a server on the internet as opposed to putting it on a computer on the local area network? for example, can I put the backend on digital ocean virtual private servers?

but it may not work. Access as a Windows app is not designed for a geographic separation between the front and back files. If the handshaking doesn't occur sufficiently quickly - it hangs.

the internet keeps getting better and better and so this is somewhat of a moving target and subject to local experience.

the traditional, safer implementation is to use remote desktop; in this case one puts the front & back files on the server - so there is no geographical separate between them at all - and then the user remotes into the front. In this implementation there must be a separate and unique front end file for each simultaneous user.
