Breaking Up a Large Table into Smaller Tables Using Queries?

I have imported an Excel spreadsheet in MS Access and reorganized it so it looks very similar to the original Excel spreadsheet.

    That is good!

However, there is one additional thing the client wants and I need help on achieving it.

The MS Access table is quite large - it i really made up of what looks like several tables.

That is the issue - I want to use queries and break this table up into a collection of smaller tables.

I think it can be done with queries, but I am unsure how to do it.

Of course, each new and smaller table should have a name.

Can this be done? Is there an easier way to do it? Something that would not use queries?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Respectfully,

    Lou Reed

I'm afraid that I doubt that a access table that closely resembles an excel sheet is actually very well designed as a database table.
Can you post up a picture of the table design ?

    Picture of Access Table

The picture of the table is attached. I just want to break and large Access db table into smaller more organized tables. I believe that I can use queries to do it. I am just not sure how.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is not a functional dataset. Need to fill in fields. For instance, San Diego is repeated in the PilotLocation column but it is not associated with any other data in most rows. Just because its row follows the row with Damage Control descriptor means nothing to Access.

Only 129 records. Use copy/paste to fill in the fields. Although might be faster to go back to the Excel and copy down to fill in the cells then import into Access. Otherwise will require VBA to fill in the fields.

Then you will be able to split up into related tables.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
