Post Incompatibility between O365 (desktop version) access database with MS16 Pro Plus version

    Hello,

I am unable to load a database I created using office 365 (desktop not online version) on my personal computer onto my work computer that is running MS Professional Plus 2016. I have the most recent update for O365 on my personal computer but that has not resolved the issue. I am however able to load a simpler file that contains only a barebones table. Therefore I assume specific aspects of my database lack compatability. Is there a list somewhere that describes which parts of my O365 database are incompatible with MS 2016 version so that I can determine if these can be removed to allow for compatability? Otherwise I will end up having to rebuild the entire database, queries, and forms on my work computer which would be really burdensome.

    Thank you!

    R

Usu the newer version is not compatible with the older version.
I start mine with access 2004. Sometimes it needs upgraded to 2007, or more.

Unfortunately I have already created the database so starting over would be the last ditch option. What is confusing to me is that when I look up the version for MS access on both computers, both say Access 2016. So It is odd to me that they are incompatible.

I am unable to load a database
Can you be more specific? What happens when you try to load?
Might it be that the database is not in a "trusted location"?

The most likely issue is that you have used the new large number (bigint) datatype in your database.
This is incompatible with older versions of A2016 as well as any previous versions
If so, try replacing it with long integer or double datatype which are compatible

That seemed to do the trick....almost. I was able to open the file but one of the tables (and form that referenced it) was still giving me problems. After I removed the calculated field in that table and essentially remade the table everything worked. Thank you!

Another reason NOT to use look up FIELDS, multi-value fields or calculated fields in tables.
