Question Opening database opens a second database - no linked tables

I would appreciate if someone could explain why when I open an Access database a second database in the same folder is opened (the record locking file is created). There are no linked Access tables in the first database. There are however linked ODBC tables from a different source.
    Many thanks.

EVERY db ,accdb (or .mdb) opens a lock file (.ldb ) to control record locking.
    Ignore it.

Thanks but when I open database 1 then database 2 opens a lock file. There is no connection between database 1 and database 2. There are no linked tables.
I am trying to understand this behaviour?

if the db is open, a lock file opens to control record locking.

Thanks again but database 2 is not open and only opens when I open database 1. No one else is using database 2 and there is connection between the two databases. I would appreciate if someone could explain this odd behaviour.

If there are no linked tables, then there must be code somewhere that opens the 2nd database.

You could post your dB for analysis........
