    Summing Positive and Negative Currency

I have a database set up for a golf tournament. I have a currency field that shows the amount paid to enter the tournament. I now have some that are cancelling. When I put a negative sign next to their amount paid, the "SUM" is incorrect. e.g. Without the negative sign it shows $80.00 paid which is correct. When I insert the negative sign to one record, the total appears as $60.00. It should show $70.

I'm just learning to do calculations in reports, so I really need explicit instructions.

    Thanks for any help.

If that record is 10, then it sounds correct. When you change it from positive to negative, you've changed its value by 20. You would likely want to leave the positive and create a new negative 10 record, or zero out the 10 record.
