    combobox on report?

If this is a really dumb question, please don't laugh...at least don't let me hear it

Is it even possible to put a combo box or buttons on a report?

I have several reports that are functional, but i want a drop down box so the user can choose what they want to see.

for instance...i have a report of all projected student graduations by semester. but i want the report to have a drop down box so the user can select certain semesters (ex. "Spring 2011") and see only graduations that occur then...instead of all projected graduations at once.

    please help

In versions prior to 2007 you could put a combo on a report but it wouldn't be clickable, so there was really no point. 2007 introduced a new "Report" view that does allow interaction with combo boxes, buttons etc. That said, it would be more common to present the user with a form to make their criteria selections/inputs, then open the report from there. Even in 2007, the interactivity is limited to the new view, so Print and Preview are still static views.

so essentially create a form with a button or drop down box that will filter...and when pressed, a report will be generated with the filter in place?

That's what I typically do. If you're want to be able to print the report directly, you have to be filtering it externally. Not saying you can't do what you describe, but it would not be the "usual and customary" way most of us do it.
