    This Recordset is not updateable

I inherited a database for our group about 4 years ago. All the queries, tables, reports and forms were already there, using Access 2016. I have been making updates to our membership ever since then with very few problems, which is good because I came into it knowing absolutely nothing about access. This morning I must have inadvertently hit a key, or combination of keys. I open a query in design view and enter my search (Like "xxxx*") and run the query. In the results is where I make changes, until today. I am unable to make any changes to the data. When I try, the message that shows up at the bottom is "This Recordset is not updateable". What could I have possibly done to make this happen? It worked fine yesterday. I have searched and searched, but it seems every answer I find is like reading a foreign language. Like I said, I did not design this nor do I have the ability to design it. I'm just trying to get it to work like it always has. Thank you in advance.

What is the SQL of the query? You can also go back to yesterday's backup and replace the current query with the one from the backup.

So I opened the backup and I am able to run it as always. Like I said, I am an absolute nooB to Access. How do I go about copying and replacing a query?

Edit: Got it! Thank you so much!

You can either copy/paste the SQL, or use the External Data tab to import the object into the current db. To get to the SQL, just click on the View icon in the ribbon. If you go the import route, rename or delete the original first. If you don't, Access will name the imported one "QueryName1", adding a 1 to the original name.
