    Workgroup Problems

I have a workgroup that runs fine on my pc with the appropriate shortcut. However, when I allow other users to use the shortcut, it defaults to the workgroup on their pc. Any suggestions on how to get around this so that when they open the shortcut the workgroup works?

Did you create the workgroup using the wizard? If yes, you have to locate the shortcut and change the path that points to the correct workgroup.

You can also try the technique Rawb taught me. Create a mapped drive, and place all your files there. The workgroup should reside on that shared mapped drive. Really works for me.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks Evander... I tried your suggestion... but now when I use the shortcut it doesn't even notice the Workgroup in the shared drive... it just defaults me to a new workgroup, Security2.mdw. Any other suggestions as to why this is happenning?

The shortcut has a string property that looks like this:

    Target:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE" "S:\YourSystem.mdb" /WRKGRP "S:\YourWorkgroup.mdw"

    Start in:

    S:\

Make sure that these properties of your shortcut icon lead to the correct path of your application.
