filtering split form with mySQL back end?

When going to mySQL, you lose the nice sort/select in datasheet and splitforms for users. Ugh. What is the syntax to teach folks for "and" or "or" in using the limited boxes you have? For example, if you drop the choices for a split form, you get can get "contains" as an option. What I don't know is how to say "this AND that" and get it to work. Maybe it just wont?

    Thanks in advance.

    Stephen.

Our client's sites are named things like HOM.123 for Home Depot store #123. Or LOW.123 for Lowes #123. So in a "clientSite" field of a split form, you will have thousands of sites, all using this naming convention. There are many different customers. If you wanted to display a list of those "beginning with" LOW or HOM, how would you do that?

The native drop list has "begins with" which is fine, but I don't know what to tell it. I've tried a few different "and" "or" and other operations, and am clearlhy missing something.
