New objects not appearing and deleted items remaining in navigation pane

I am running Access 2010 as part of the Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 suite. My operating system is Windows 7 Enterprise with Service Pack 1. When I create any object such as table query or form it does not appear in the Navigation Pane unless I either exit the program or change the navigation pane view. The same applies to objects I delete. Although I can work with the program it makes it very difficult and frustrating to have to do this for every object creation/deletion I make. I would greatly appreciate any advice or solution to this problem.

    Thanks

    Alan

Never heard of this. Pressing f5 or Refresh will save you having to close the program. Doesn't fix the problem, tho.

pressing F5 works. Thanks!. I searched the web and a number of users of Access 2010 have reported this. One found a solution by installing Service pack 2. Unfortunately I cant do this as when I try I get a message telling me no products affected by this package installed on my system.
