    Access does not use Excel functions.
    now, if you created an excel instance, and have excel open and are looking in excel spreadsheet, this might work.
    But it wont in Access queries.

    Using wildcard * is as fuzzy as it gets.

    'similar' is relative. how much similar? 1 character? 6?
