    Handling OLE-objects concerning DB-size

I've had a periode (20-25 years) where I did not develop code in Access and now I want to start again ;-))

I want to use a lot of WORD dokuments as comtainers for pictures and scannings in a DB for genealogy and - I think - often more fields pr. record with OLE-objects.

Is OLE-Objects the path to go or has the newer version of Access a better path to follow ?

storing the photos could fill it up fast.
instead, store the PATH to the photo ,and open it using the path.

Paste this code into a module, and
it will open ANY file in its native application.

    usage: OpenNativeApp ME.txtBox

if the file is myFile.jpg, will open it in the default image viewer (paint, viewer, etc)
if the file is myFile.doc, it will open the doc in Word
if its just a file path, it will open in file explorer.
    etc..

    Code:
    'Attribute VB_Name = "modNativeApp"
    'Option Compare Database
    Option Explicit

Private Declare Function ShellExecute Lib "shell32.dll" Alias "ShellExecuteA" (ByVal hwnd As Long, ByVal lpszOp As String, ByVal lpszFile As String, ByVal lpszParams As String, ByVal lpszDir As String, ByVal FsShowCmd As Long) As Long
