If I may offer some advice...

I too was tasked two years ago with creating a database for a specific work project. I found the Access 2010 (that's what my company uses) courses at Lynda.com well worth the price (my subscription + $34.95/month). I also keep a copy of the Microsoft Missing Manual for Access on hand. And nothing really beat all the advice I received from the people here on this forum.

Another suggestion that I believe most everyone will agree with; draw out your table relationships BEFORE you begin, as this helps make things clearer than keeping it in your head. As a matter of fact, my original relationship maps underwent several revisions as the project went on. And I even created a similar map for queries as well.
