I ran into a "problem" while trying to do a find and replace in Access. I was trying to edit some tables that had characters such as <=, >=, and the like. I wanted to change those characters to the combined characters. I normally do that by holding down the alt key while entering the appropriate number on the keypad.

However, when I tried to enter the number while in the Replace field, I came up with a different character than what I wanted. Entering directly into the table gave me what I wanted, but the Replace field didn't do that. I tried copying from the Character Map, but there is no paste function available when in the Replace field.

To experiment, I tried the same thing with Word and Excel. Word gave me the same results as I experienced in Access, but Excel did give me what I was after.

How does one get the proper special characters while attempting a find and replace such as I was trying?
