Question Access Database Error Message - You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time.

We have an Access database that about 20 users currently use. None of the users have ever had any issues accessing it.

However 1 user is currently getting the error message - "You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time. If you proceed to make changes, you may not be able to save them later."

The user is a laptop user and the database in question has about 10 options on the initial team menu. The user can click on all of them and access the forms relevant to her except for one of the options on which she gets the above message.

If she logs onto a desktop she does not get this error message, it only happens on her laptop and she is the only user affected. Access has been uninstalled and re-installed but this has not helped. I have checked the Client Settings and in Advanced Shared is highlighted.

Any ideas why it would do this on a specific machine?

Check the MS Access options on her laptop.

From the ribbon, Choose File - Options - Client Settings.

Scroll down to the Advanced option group, and check the setting for Default Open Mode - if it is set to "Exclusive", that is the cause of the problem. it should be set to "Shared".

So you have a BE and multiple FE that each user uses or do they open the same FE?

    Just throwing stuff out there:
    1. Does the laptop have save version of Access as other PCs?
    2. The table on the form that is not working, delete it and relink.
    3. Maybe add ODBC connection on her Laptop to the data(name it same as others).
    4. Could be the version of SQL drivers used for the ODBC.

Can you explain this further, what is she really doing by selecting that option. Is it a button that opens a form?
"The user can click on all of them and access the forms relevant to her except for one of the options on which she gets the above message."

Same version of Access used by all users. There are multiple FE users opening same FE.
Table on form works on desktop for her?
Clicking on the button opens up a form of actions she has.

A separate copy of the FE should be on each user's PC.
