Error: This object requires a newer version of the MS Access database engine

    Hello,

When I try to backup my Access 2013 database to my external hard drive, I get an error message that says: This object requires a newer version of the Microsoft Access database engine.

I tried to update Access but received the message that no updates were available, so that doesn't seem to be the problem.

I haven't had this problem backing up to my computer.

Any information about what's going on would be appreciated!
    Thanks

There is no reason for this message if you are copy/pasting the database.
1 has nothing to do with the other.

As long as no one is in the db, you can make a copy of the db to the external drive.

How are you doing the backup? Within Access itself, or just using an MS Office file copy outside Access?

I am saving from within Access, using the BackUp Database option.

I don't use that facility, and I only have A2010 so I can't help much. Did you check to see that all the references are the latest versions?

Did you try backing up a different database to the external drive? If that works, then there must be something about your database that is causing a problem.
