Date Fields, Date Pickers and Date Formats

I'm working on a form and trying to consider everyone's preferences for a date field. One person wants an input mask, another wants a calendar and so on. What I have found is that as soon as I put in an input mask the Date Picker/Calendar option goes away. Poking around I found an Active X control Microsoft Date and Time Picker which offers the best of both worlds. With a little code I convert it to a date field. It seems to default to today's date, which is OK and easy to change, but I would prefer it blank and let the user fill it in like any text box. Other than that it does what I need it to. That said, is this the best or only solution to this problem.

    Your thoughts?

Unless there's an issue, I'm going to give them the ActiveX control. I just thought I would put it out there first.
