    Access Database-User Permissions

How do you set a Microsoft Access file to alert you when someone else has the file open AND still allow you to open it in read only mode? I have 3 people in my department and we all need to be able to edit the database at any given time. However, right now we have no way of knowing when someone else is in the database.

In a multiuser environment, you would normally have the application split:

Agree with pbaldy. Split the database so it has a front end a back end. I currently have a database that has 11 different people using it at any given time and this works flawlessly.
