How can I hyperlink in bulk

I am a volunteer at Maidstone Museum. We have an Access database of several thousand specimens in the museum collection. One field contains a unique number. A separate file contains photographs of the specimens, each with the same name as the unique number. The Director now wants the database and pictures hyperlinked together. I don't want to do them one at a time. I would like to have a button to create the link for them all in one go. At the moment I have one to produce a form with data and the picture but the 'boss' knows better and wants hyperlink.
