    Bill of Materials Data Model

I'm looking for some advice on how to setup some tables in a new database I'm creating. We are an automotive parts manufacturer and the first thing I need to do is setup table(s) for the parts. I'd like to arrange the parts in a bill of materials style where we make sub-components that are made into full assemblies. I've reviewed several articles and data models, the one in the link below looks pretty good, but I'd love some feedback from everyone on what works and what doesn't. The caveat I have in my table setup is that some sub-components will be final assemblies and will also be subs for more than 1 other final assembly, so I'm not sure this data model works for that situation. Comments?

I did some searches and found this article. I did not read the whole thing but it might point out some difficulties of using this with Access queries.

I found this article that seems to be a proponent. There are also some SQL examples.

I like this video series. I would recommend viewing the entire series. Even if a lot of it feels like review, the terminology and concise delivery provides a great refresher. I believe this series will help a lot with your ERD.
