Create report template from existing report

Hi guys, I have a problem I was wondering if I could get some feedback from all the smart people around here.

I need to create reports that go off of the fiscal year rather than the regular calendar year. Starting with 2016 my company wants to go off fiscal year. I just want to use the existing reports they already have, and just tweak it to start in October and end in September, rather than the usual Jan - Dec. Is there any way to create a design template from an existing report....or do I just need to copy / paste the existing report??

Thanks for anything you guys can offer!!!

You can right click copy the Report Object from within the Navigation Pane and paste a copy by Right Clicking anywhere within the Navigation pane (ie another Report Object).

How are you adding criteria to your report now? Just change that to the FY Dates.

Ok, I get that. I have tried copying and pasting by just clicking in the Navigation Pane, CTL-A, CTL-C. Then I went into a new blank report and pasted everything there. The problem im having now is that all of the headers and footers that are not Report and Page headers and footers did not get copied. I definitely need these. Is there any way to copy the headers and footers over? Heck, even if I have to manually create them again I will....I just have not been able to even find how to create custom headers and footers.

This is my first attempt at building any kind of report in Access...

If you open a Report in design view, you can copy and paste the objects within the report. This is not what I recommended.

If you want to create a duplicate report, copy the Report Object by right clicking the name of the Report from within the Navigation Pane. The Navigation Pane is on the Left side of the main window and displays objects like tables, queries, forms, etc.

Thats not what you recommended earlier this morning? Maybe I misunderstood then. Never the less, Just copying and pasting does not copy some of the headers and footers. For example...

There is Report Header/Footer, Page Header/Footer, Office Location Header, Enginner Support Header, Discipline Header, Expense Category Header, Expense Category Footer, Discipline Footer.

I would like to copy all of these and paste them into my new report....except that it does not copy any of these at all. Everything else, like labels, text boxes and things like that all copy and past fine. It is just the headers/footers that wont copy.

Ahhhhhhh I see, said the blind man.

I gotcha now. Thanks, that helps.

Ok, now that I have a grasp on that, I have a follow up. I need to use this exact report, I just need it to start at October and end in September. Is it just as simple as changing the correct fields to coorespond with the correct month?

With that, it should only be a matter of querying the correct records.
