Thumbs up Display Target Image (from URL) on Form and Report

    Hi all,

I'm trying to make a utility for my laboratory. Running Access 2010, I'm trying to display a linked PNG file on each record of my DB through a form. I've done my homework and found how to do this if the file is stored locally (image container, direct to a text field containing the full file path). When I save my image locally and try this, it works perfectly. However, I'd like to directly link to the image online. As soon as I change it from an internal file link to an external web link to the same image, the image is no longer displayed.

I've found a forum reply which suggests that what I'm doing should work, but rarely do I see this discussed online. Is there any special type of formatting I need to do on the field text to get this to display?

Previously, I was doing this with the attachment field, but that requires a download and attachment to the DB, and the resolution of the chemical structure when printed was horrible, so I suspect whatever type of compression that was used affected it negatively.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Warren

can you show your control source, or the code which generates it?

I am going to guess the only way will be to understand the source of the picture hosted online. With that, you should be able to download the file to your computer or link to the file via a web browser control.

I'm with James on this. Show us something of what you are working with.
The URL for the image. The code you have at this time. Any details that might be relevant to someone who doesn't know you, your environment or your experience.
