    Is it mandatory primary key should be Autonumber?

    Is it mandatory primary key should be Autonumber?
    Any help?

    No its not mandatory. Primary are unique identifiers. The can be Text, Alpha numerical and numbers. Autonumber is prefered due to the fact it is generated Automatically and need no code to generate. More over as it is system generated conflicts are completely out of question. But Autonumber has its limitations. If Sequence is a factor then autonumbers are not good choice. more over making autonumbers start from a specific number requires a lot of hard work. it is possible but I feel its tedious especially when you want the numbers to begin from a certian number after data is being entered into the table.

    Not only is it not required, I HATE autonumber. I hope you dont ever need to pull in two autonumber primary keys into a query. Good luck with that.
