Macro causes error message The value you entered isn't valid for this field.

I get this message when I click to go to the Design View of the form, and think that perhaps I need a macro condition to not do this macro, but I don't what the condition should be. The macro is in the AfterUpdate Property. As I am doing a lot of development, this message is very irritating.

The value you entered isn't valid for this field.

For example, you may have entered text in a numeric field or a number that is larger than the FieldSize setting permits.

The macro does a setvalue, Item [Forms]![Closeform].[SettlementPage1] This is a number field
Expression [Page1ID] This is a number field.

    Thanks for your help.

Why is AfterUpdate event running just because you switch to Design view? Were you in the middle of entering data into a record then switched to Design view?

It always does it when I switch to design view. And not usually entering data. Thanks.

I don't experience that. If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.

    Hi June,

I finally made a decision that this particular macro was a hangover from the past when the field in question was used as a foreign key. It is no longer, so I have disconnected it and will see if there are ramifications. Thanks for the offer to analyse the db. Very tempting, but not at this moment. Thanks very much.
