Best screen resultion for most common screen sizes

Just want to get some feedback......I just got a new 22" monitor and I can set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 ! Makes LOTS of room on the screen!
The reason I'm asking these questions is that I would love to take advantage of these higher resolutions and the additional real estate on the screen that it provides.

In addition to doing custom databases where I can ask the client what size monitors they have, I also create databases that people can download from my website.

    1. In most offices, what size monitors do most users have?
    2. What is the most common resolution?

Anyway, I'm just trying to decide what settings I should use when programming in order to fit most users screens.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I will consider the aspect ratio before I consider the screen resolution. My preference for 22" monitors is 16:10. It sounds like the monitor you have is 16:9 and this is very common. However this Wide Screen aspect is more suitable for Letterbox format and less desirable for Business Applications.

Once you figure out the aspect ratio (look at the native resolution for the hardware), you can develop for that.

I did a quick google and found this list which should be a useful reference.

You bet. If there is one drawback with using Access, I would say it is trying to manage the screen resolution thing. The only approach I have been able to find is to build front ends for the different monitors within a given office. It sounds more daunting than it actually is. Usually, a specific workgroup will have similar hardware. So, the back office may have acquired their hardware at one time and operations at another time. Good Luck!
