What does "Index or Primary Key Cannot Contain a Null Value" mean when trying to add a new record to a form?

Go to the table with which you are referring. Design View. To the left of the field that you are talking about, there will be a key symbol. This indicates this field is a primary key. As a rule, the primary key field MUST have a value (you cannot leave it blank).

Thank you so much for replying. I did figure it out through context clues. I was beginning to lose faith thoug. I have to have this thing somewhat presentable tomorrow morning and it is becoming a beast.

I think I am on track now. I will be back to this site for sure. Lots of helpful info.

Thanks again for replying. Helps me know i'm not alone out here.

I am having this SAME problem - the problem being that I have a combo box in the form that will look up the records.

I go to new record. I enter in the new information - including filling in the Primary Key field. I get a pop up box stating "Index or primary key cannot contain Null value."

    What am I doing wrong?
