How to make a primary key on a linked table?

For a database of components (instruments, valves, etc) in an industrial installation, I need to get data from an MS Excel table filled with information by engineers. Linking the table works fine, but I haven't been able to establish a primary key. Is it possible to tag a field with a primary key? If not (what seems to be the case), how do I find my information in the linked Access table?

    Thanks in advance.

    No.

Why do you think you need a primary key from a linked Excel workbook?
What are you doing with the linked workbook?

how do I find my information in the linked Access table?
Without having more info, I would use a query.

With your answer I started puzzling (again). I solved the problem, which wasn't a problem, but a mistake in the way i related some tables.
Thanks for putting me on the right track though.
