How to Get Data to Override Higher Amounts

    Hi,

I am very new to Access but am learning.

I work in College Admissions and would like to program my database to recognize the difference between SAT scores and ACT Scores and to default to factoring in whichever score is higher when we do averages. All ACT scores have SAT equivalencies. The problem the database is encountering is that it is programmed to recognize SAT's and therefore is not correctly incorporating the true ranges of ACT scores, which would make averages a lot higher (and more accurate).

What kind of ideas can I incorporate that would not only include both types of data, but simultaneously "default" to the higher score (even if that means some kind of query that would convert the ACT score to an SAT score)?

Thank you in advance for your insight!

What is data structure. Are the SAT and ACT scores in separate fields?

What would be involved in 'conversion'?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
