Date function

I seem to have a slight problem. I just upgraded a database From access 2010 to access 2013 and for some reason the =Date() function does not work In the field Date. Is there something else I can do?

The Field Name is "Date". I did not design this database is that a problem?

It can confuse Access in that it won't know if you're referring to the field or the function. I'd still check the reference issue.
