    Multi user data entry

I have a database in which there is a data capture form.
The main part of this form captures a CONTRACT number (along with some other details) and it then has a subform which captures individual data relative to each contract.
I want more than 1 use to enter detail on the subform but at the moment when 1 user has the form open, no -one else can access it because of the warning message which states it cannot lock the tables which drive the form.
Is there a solution to this ?

You need to split the database.
the backend (BE) tables go on the server.
the frontend (FE) forms, queries, etc, goes to EACH individual.

    this works.

Having looked through the forums, this was the first thing I did but the problem still remains

    Hi,

In addition to the post of ranman256, you may want to try also to set the permissions of the group or usernames in your network. You do this by right clicking the database application > properties > Securities > "then select individual user" and set their permission to full control or what ever applicable to you.

Does each user have their own copy of the frontend located on their local workstation?

As long as they aren't editing the same record, there should be no conflict.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

    Hello all
I downloaded one of the Microsoft template databases which has a similar design to what I need and immediately saw that the subform they use is configured differently to how I have mine set up.
I had simply dropped a detail form on to my main form whereas they have purposely created a subform link.
I have now tried this way myself and the conflict I had has now gone i.e 2 people can access the same form without the error message.
I now have potentially other things to consider regarding duplication and simple timing of entries but that is for another day.......
    Thanks for your assistance
