database in Access 2010 that I need to remain accessible to various employees of the institution

I have a database in Access 2010 that I need to remain accessible to various employees of the institution where I work. However, when put it on a local server, the access by employees that are further away takes a long time making it impractical. The institution where I work has sharepoint. How can I make access fast enough to these employees, that are far away from each other? Thanks for your help.

We currently have db accessed by people in KY and MD. There is no lag.
Sharepoint , however, is a different animal. Look thru this forum on sharepoint solutions.

I tried putting linked tables in sharepoint (two users in two different cities, simultaneously) and, until now, it is working fine...Thanks
