    Identifying free time

I have a database that contains start and finish dates for individuals working on projects. I am trying to create a query that will identify individuals that have time available during a defined period. The defined period is being input as part of the query, and I have that part worked out.

    Example:
    Employee Project Startdate Enddate
    Jane Sale 10/10/2014 10/12/2014
    Jane Present 10/15/2014 10/16/2014
    Sam Sale 10/10/2014 10/22/2014
    Fred Sale 10/12/2014 10/19/2014

If I use the period 10/10/2014 to 10/20/2014 I want to see all users who are available. From the above:
    Employee Startdate Enddate
    Jane 10/13/2014 10/14/2014
    Jane 10/17/2014 10/20/2014
    Fred 10/10/2014 10/11/2014
    Fred 10/20/2014 10/20/2014

    Dates are mm/dd/yyyy.

I have minimal SQL knowledge but am not against using it if it will help.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Query cannot show the desired output because there are no records with those dates.

Would showing the reserved ranges on a Gantt chart be helpful? Review https://www.accessforums.net/databas...ses-18459.html

Otherwise, I think what you want will still require VBA and temp table.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
