    Specified SQL server not found

I'm trying to learn how to use Access 2007 on a network. I have installed MS SQL Server 2005 Express on my computer, and when I try to attach a database to the server using Access, I get the following error message:

    Microsoft Data Link Error

    ---------------------------
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]Specified SQL server not found.

I found out I had to allow remote connections, so I set that.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Dan

You probably need to create a DSN for your SQL Server database.

I found the answer to my problem. I had to set permissions. It works now.

Hi- I am having similar problem connecting to SQL Database (2008) within Access Project and getting the same error as mentioned here. I am not sure how you set the permission. Could you give details..I am a novice with SQL server. Thanks you
