opening a password protected Access database in Excel

I have an Access database that is password protected. Within Excel, if I try to use this database as a datasource, selecting from Access, the database password box opens. Entering the password and clicking ok, it just loops through that window. If I remove the password from the database, Excel is able to connect to the database. I need to keep the database secure.

    Any suggestions?

I have never tried it from Excel. If you make a link to tables in Access from Access, you can enter the password when creating the link. Maybe you can create a System DSN for an ODBC connection in the client machine and enter the password in the DSN.

I am facing the same issue. I do not know how to access the data via excel while keeping the databse password-protected. Any help will be appreciated.

    Best regards,
    AF

In the Options menu, "Client configuration" section, there is an option to "use legacy encription" (may not be exactly named like this, I am translating to English). Such encription allows the database to remain password-protected while letting Excel in and read data (if you provide Excel with the password).
Hope it helps, it worked for me .

    Best regards,
    AF
