    summing and combining records

I am wondering if it is possible to combine and sum records in access.

    ex. ACCTnum | DEPOSIT | Withdrawl | Comments | Date |

    123 100 0 Blah Blah 1/20/2014
    951 90 0 Blue Blah 2/15/2014
    123 0 50 kjb;kjb 3/15/2014
    951 120 60 na na 12/20/2013
    123 1200 0 point 1/20/2014

Is there a way that I can combine the records for acct 123 together and acct 951 lets say there are 350 diffrent records accross 120 acct's is that possible? Ive been trying to work it out and have yet to be able to get it to work.

Sounds like you want an aggregate (GROUP BY) Totals query. Query in design view, click Totals button on ribbon Design tab. Set parameters as appropriate.

Or build a report using its Sorting & Grouping features with aggregate calcs in footer sections. This will allow display of detail records as well summary calcs.

These queries and reports are basic Access functionality. Access Help has guidelines on constructing these objects.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
