ODBC timestamp issue <<<< need help

    Hi all,

I created a linked table in access 2010 to my accounting software through ODBC connection. There is a field in the table called "modifiedtimestamp". if the "modifiedtimestamp" is not null, Ms access populates value correctly. However, if "modifiedtimestamp" field is null, Ms access automatically populates current date as the value for "modifiedtimestamp" field. I want Ms access populates null, not current date, if "modifiedtimestamp" field is null. How can i fix this issue? Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Can you post the code that updates the modifiedtimestamp field?

    Hi Itsme,

Thank you for your response. There is no code at all. I just open the linked table. If "modifiedtimestamp" field is null (from data source), Ms access automatically populates current date as the value for the field.

There may be "Constraints" managed by the software you are linking to that is causing the Null to be populated.

If you are not using code to edit/update/append data to the linked table, how are you updating the data? Are you using bound forms? What is the default value for the control bound to your modifiedtimestamp field? Are there macros?

    Hi Itsme,
It is possible due to "Constraints" managed by the software. I am not able to update edit/update/append data to the linked table. I only use the linked table for reporting purpose. Thanks for your time.
