    Slow screen refresh rate

Hi can anyone help with this annoying problem.

I am running Access 2013, in table design view the screen is very slow to refresh. If I move from one field definition to another the screen refreshes from left to right very slowly (maybe 3 seconds).

Otherwise database works fine. I have tried
    1. compact & repair
    2. increased swap file memory

    any help gratefully received.

    kind regards

    Raymondo

    Hi Orange

This is a single user database (at the moment), I am using a Windows 8 fujitsu laptop 64 bit.

All other applications work fine, it is just the refresh rate when in design mode for forms, tables, queries or reports.

    ??

I have no idea. I did see a recent thread somewhere that was using HP PC and it had some SW running that interfered with Access.
Some people have identified some antivirus setups as the cause of slowness in some conditions.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Orange

I will do some more research, if I find anything I will post here.

    Cheers

I did see one that had a network printer as default printer - removed it and all was well again.

    Hi Orange

Absolutely right! I removed a redundant Network Drive connection and all offline printers. Re-booted and now all works speedy again!!

    Thanks for your interest :-)
