Retrieve Data whose date is newest (Multiple date available for each transaction)

Hi Sir / Madam,
In a table where i have telephone number with have multiple date, i want to retrieve data with unique report whose date is newest (recent) and ignore oldest date.

Example:

Telephone number | Date
xxxxx9585 | 10-July-2014
xxxxx9585 | 12-July-2014
xxxxx9585 | 14-July-2014

Result should be - xxxxx9585 | 14-July-2014

Please assist in getting to get the result shown in above example.

Try an aggregate Totals (GROUP BY) query.

SELECT [Telephone number], Max([Date]) AS LatestDate FROM tablename GROUP BY [Telephone number];
